Maruton's travel diary: Machu Picchu Travel #11 - The fifth day (5.1) #2, Departure to Machu Picchu by train in early morning, Machu Picchu sightseeing, then stay there.

I ate lunch, so let's go Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu bus stop

(I) Is Machu Picchu also raining now?
(a man standing by bus stop) ?
(I) Machu Picchu, rain?
(a man standing by bus stop) ?
(I) (I pointed to the sky) Water, Machu Picchu?
(a man standing by bus stop) (he seemed to have understood.) Machu Picchu is not raining now. it is different weather from here.
(I) Thank you. please give me bus ticket.
(a man standing by bus stop) it is not sold here. but is sold over there.

I'll go in a hurry.

Ticket office of the bus

The ticket office of the bus was immediately close.

(I) Bus ticket please, one adult but two tickets for not only today but also tomorrow.

I got it.

There were many buses around here.
A bus went out when it was full. once a bus was out, another bus came soon.
So, I boarded immediately and started out.

Machu Picchu arrival

It took 30 minutes to go to Machu Picchu by bus.

Rain was falling a little. I bought a poncho for fear that my camera got wet.
It was so simple that it was made of a plastic bag with a hole and it extended longer when through the neck.
But soon it stooped raining and I threw away it.
I didn't need to buy it.

So, it was Machu Picchu entrance.

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is one of the ruins of Inca empire which flourished 15th century.
There is a lot of mystery about Inca because they didn't have a character. it is believed to have been used such as residence or villa of royalty and nobility of the Inca.

It was also the place where Spanish people could not find when they invaded Cusco in 16th century. from the fact that there are also burn marks, it seems that Inca people had burnt and abandoned this place when Spaniard attacked in Cusco.

Though it had been forgotten after that, it was discovered in 1911 by American explorer Hiram Bingham. and in 1983 Machu Picchu was certified as a world heritage site in Peru first together with Cusco.
